I'm so excited. This week I will start baby-sitting a girl that is about a month older than Acorn. I went to the resale shop and picked up some child-height tables for them. The day after I put one in Acorn's room, he was standing at it. I knew I should have given him a cruising bar! Oh well. I'm excited to see them interact. That is always my favorite party when I go to the breastfeeding group. Also glad I'll be contributing to the bottom line a little bit now. I know I'm still spoiled, but at least I feel a little more useful. Not that raising Acorn isn't useful; it just doesn't bring in a paycheck.
Actually scratch that, did I already mention that he's a lab rat? Every two months we let some students at Northern experiment on him, and they give us $30. I kid, I kid. But they do pay us to participate in a study on infant emotions and temperament regulation. I'm always reading stuff on infant/child development. It's nice to be part of where that information comes from. That's also why I fill out those stupid surveys I keep getting on what I feed my infant. 95% of the survey is about what type of formula I give him and why. He's never gotten formula. I guess that makes it easier to fill out though. I keep filling them out because I have this hope that I'm contributing to national statistics about breastfeeding, but I always have a sinking feeling that it's just an advertising company sending this stuff. What do you think?
